This post is long overdue! We have been working on our “Chantilly House” project since May and sharing peeks here and there on Instagram and Facebook. We’ve meant all the while to write a series of proper blog posts, but it’s so hard to DO design work and actually have time to DOCUMENT design work at the same time! (You fellow designers know exactly what I’m talking about). Anyway, construction is actually done (yay!) but I’m going to walk you back through the progress and then I’ll do a follow up post to share all the builder’s photos with you of the completed house.
This is our first out-of-state project, located in North Carolina. The neighborhood is like something out of a storybook, and so the house needed to have all the charm and history that its surroundings called for. Our client came to us once the architect’s plans were completed and once the previous home had been torn down. As construction was already underway, we made some quick emergency tweaks to the kitchen design (like adding a focal point!) and then immediately set to picking out ALL of the interior finishes.
The builder, Timberline Homes, did a beautiful job and paid attention to every detail. It was such an incredibly fun project to be a part of, and the clients have amazing style, so we loved working with them. Ready to see?
BEFORE
This was what the house looked like at the beginning of 2018. The client explained that, after pricing everything out and exploring options, it was actually more cost effective to tear down the original structure than to remodel around it.

And there you go…that’s the progression so you’re all caught up! We’ll share the reveal photos of the finished construction in the next couple of days. Then it will be on to furnishing and styling over the next few months.
