Westmont Traditional

No.01Design Approach

This beautiful home has great traditional bones, but was being weighed down by early-2000’s “Tuscan” opulence. We removed overly ornate trim and archways, and added wainscoting to the dining room, creating a more classic shell for striking striped wallpaper and timeless furnishings. The entry and powder room got a much-needed refresh, and the basement was transformed with new flooring and updated furniture to turn a kid-clutter zone into a family-friendly entertaining space.

As one of the first rooms you see when you enter this home, the dining room always felt unfinished and underwhelming to our client, and had become a catch-all for clutter. Treating the doorways with a more classic shape and trim allowed us to have natural stopping points for a bold wallpaper, which became the centerpiece of the new design.

The basement was finished, but the paint was heavy and the carpet wasn't very functional since this is a high-traffic entertaining zone, closely connected to the backyard. We freshened the paint, added heated LVP floors, and designed built ins for the TV and a wet bar complete with beverage and ice fridges.
