For the last couple months, we’ve been working on a new family room project that we’re so excited about, we just had to blog about it mid-way through.
Our (beyond wonderful) clients are starting from scratch in their family room, but before we could talk furniture, we had some work to do on the architectural features of the home. This makes ALL the difference to the final design.
Here are some photos of where we started.
The major changes are refinishing of the wood floors (and removing carpet in some areas), as well as a huge refinishing job to their gorgeous staircase and railing.
We’re also having their family room painted out in Elmira White and their existing bookcase built-ins are going from a dark cherry red wood stain to fresh beautiful Chantilly Lace white. The whole effect is going to be so much lighter and brighter!
Before the built-ins and walls were painted, the carpet came out and wood flooring went in.
This was the initial concept board we created for the room:
The design scheme is fresh and classic and family friendly. We have a linen-look slipcovered sofa coming, and it will sit next to a second sofa in THE most gorgeous caramel distressed leather. A cobalt blue windowpane fabric is going to be on the accent chair- which is a bold move but we are over the moon for it. The chair is so completely timeless. 80’s Ralph Lauren perhaps? It will be impossible to date it, even to a decade. Their rug is ultra plush in feel, and adds a refinement and softness to the scheme.
Pops of navy, charcoal and even black are going to add sophistication and depth to the design.
We are aiming for a June installation and we can’t wait! In the meantime, we'll just be here, in our office, taking shoefies and styled shots and drooling every time an exciting new package arrives.
